Rose Bay Beach is one of the first dog-friendly beaches Ollie got to experience and run around. It was also here that he developed his love for beaches.
This dog-friendly off-leash beach is in Sydney’s East. There’s parking available at Lyne Park, but weekends can be busy, especially on a sunny day. The beach itself has a beautiful view of Sydney Harbour and plenty of space for dogs to run around. The water is shallow enough that you can walk around in it, and the waves are gentle.
When you’re done playing on the beach, take a walk up the small alley ways and you’ll find yourself surrounded by Rose Bay’s many eateries, many of which have outdoor seating so you can sit down and get a bite to eat.
Some extra notes
- Parking is available at Lyne Park, street parking also available nearby.
- It’s best to steer clear of the three stormwater outlets at the beach as they can get pretty stinky sometimes.
- Sometimes, stingrays are out and about in the area, but we’ve never laid eyes on them. Keep an eye out for the signs on the beach and tread carefully.
- If you’re venturing into the adjacent Dumaresq Reserve on the north side, the off-leash times are between 4:30pm to 8:30am.
- You can’t bring your furry friend to Tingira Memorial Park, or you’ll be slapped with a fine of up to $500!
