Great dog friendly off leash beach for exploring and exercising. It’s located on the northern beach and you can access it via the very long steep stairs above the high humpy sand dunes. So, be prepared for a bit of a climb when you’re on your way back!

The beach is lovely and clean with a nice breeze blowing through. It caters for people and dog, making it a beautiful place for picnic. You can even bring your own tents to relax in, especially on a sunny hot day.

Tips

  • Plenty of free parking available at the end of the road (Bombora View, Toowoon Bay), parking can be tough to find as it’s a very popular for dog owners and surfers.
  • Make sure you travel light as there’re long steep stairs and that are not wheelchair friendly.
  • The northern side of Shelly Beach is the only dog friendly beach where your furry friend can run around off leash. So, make sure you head to the right side of the beach!
  • For more information, check the Central Coast Council websites and look for a signpost on site.
